Profile:
My brother Paul was first to discover his passion for cars in the mid 90s. His first car, a Toyota Corolla Twin Cam was a platform for both of us to learn and explore from. Little did we realise how much of an impact cars would have in the years ahead.
It was around this time my brother and I founded the RollaBoyz car club in WA which harnessed the power of the internet by brining together people with the similar interest.
I bought my first car in 1998, a 1989 Toyota Corolla SX, while I was still at Uni. With a seed for car modifying already planted within me, I embarked on my own journey with my Corolla. The car evolved over time and within a couple of years it was well known as ROLLA SX. In 1999 I received my first trophy and that’s when things really started to happen; the car demon took over and my quest for perfection was accelerated.
In the years leading up to it’s last show appearance in 2002, ROLLA SX accumulated 23 trophies in all including a King of Autosalon title and a Top 10 finish in the 2001 Autosalon year.
My passion for cars, together with my technical and business skills started me on a new journey; ModYourCar.com was born. Still going strong today after over 3 years, ModYourCar is now my full time business.
Early 2005, an opportunity arose where I could grab an FD RX7 for a really good price. Being my most favourite car, I snapped it up in an instant. My plans were to keep the RX7 as a nice street driven car while I continued to work on ROLLA SX (yes it will make a return). It didn’t quite all turn out the way I set out however. Being the perfectionist and modifying crazy guy I am, I decided to take the RX7 to a new level, inevitably to become my next show car.
LE RX7 as it is now known debuted this year at Perth Autosalon where it took honors of being Perth’s top judged car, marginally losing out to a Sydney based car for King of Autosalon props.
The car as it stands has a show build time of under 12 months and is only part the way to being a completed project.
Thank you to Turtle Wax for trusting me with their brand and their values.
